I am so sorry to hear of your loss of BE. I have come to the conclusion that some people are in it because they cannot relate to people and project onto the dogs. I too had problems adopting a dog – here in Minnesota, I was turned down by two separate dog rescues – by one because I had the audacity to want a dog while I live in a townhouse (aprox 1500 sqft with a huge non-fenced in backyard) and by one because I had never personally owed a pet that was spayed or neutered (keep in mind that I was 27 and this was my first “big” pet (fish, etc) and that my families childhood dogs had all been spayed). I had come to the conclusion that pet adoption was just not for me and had started looking at pet stores. If it hadn’t been for one of my co-workers insistence that some of these people are just plain old crazy I’m sure that I wouldn’t have Sadie now. I ended up finding her at a pet supply store on a Saturday when they brought in the rescue dogs. Adopting her has hands down been the best thing to date in my life. She is a happy well adjusted (no longer ultra nervous) much loved dog who plays nightly in the backyard with her “pack” of neighborhood dogs and nearly weekly at the local dog park.
I wish you better luck with your next dog and your baby!
Kate,
Thank you so much for your support. We are surrendering the dogs this morning with a heavy heart. Sadies is very lucky to have you.
